Growing Minds is commited to providing child lead therapy that uses learner's motivation to build skills that help them succesfully navigate their environment. By using the principles of Early Skills Denver Model and utilizing natural environment teaching, we foster a relaxed and engaged environment.
At Growing Minds our top priority is teaching our learner's to effectively communicate their needs. Our staff are trained to use Alternative Augmentative Communication systems such as Picture Exchange Communication (PECS), LAMP Words for Life and Proloquo-2-Go to build spontaneous communication.
Social skills are key for success. We provide at home, community and in center services where social skills are taught with family members, peers and teachers. Our center is conveniently located inside a daycare where we target social and classroom readiness skills.
An initial assessment and parent interview is conducted with our clinical supervisor, Saghar Yousufzai to determine each learner's current skill sets and future goals. Parent meetings are conducted every 3 months and individual support plan is updated every 6 months. Daily session notes are shared to ensure parents are actively involved in the learning process.
1:1 direct therapy is provided with our trained therapists to implement the goals outlined in our individual support plan. Therapy is provided in home and at our center. Accordng to learners needs, life skills such as toileting, eating, dressing and toothbrushing are taught with our therapists and then generalized with parents.
To build social and classroom readiness skills we provide 1:1 direct therapy in our learners' daycare, private school, and at our center. We faciliate peer interaction within mainstream classrooms so that learners benefit from peer models.
Parent training is provided with our clinical supervisor as per request from parents. In home and center based parent training is available. Parent training is focused around fostering a positive parent child relationship to build skills in a relaxed environment.
